Roger Goodell and the NFL need to immediately reinstate Tom Brady, and save their resources for something more important, like their dying alumni.
Personally, I hate Tom Brady as a player simply because he played against my Hawkeyes while at Michigan, and then continued on to New England where he’s spent more than a decade filleting Dolphin defenses. All that being said, more than 70% of the NFL thinks he’s guilty, with more than 80% calling it a non-issue. You know what that tells me? This is a non-issue! Far too often over the last three decades, the trend has been to censor everyone that says anything that offends a section of people while most likely making an even larger group of people feel uncomfortable with the thing that was said.
Brady doesn’t need the money, and he’s accomplished more than enough to secure his legacy in the legendary halls of the NFL. The reason he should be allowed to play is it’s the right thing to do. Ray Rice, Adrian Petersen, and many other offenders actually did something negative to impact the NFL at the minimum, but that isn’t the case for Brady. This seems to be the equivilant of scuffing baseballs in MLB. It happens all the time and people pick and choose when to enforce it based on the opponent and situation.
Many experts have said that the four Brady-less games the Patriots will play will lead to my Dolphins being crowned king of the AFC East. This would make me extremely happy, but not as happy as I’d be if Brady was reinstated and Miami won the title without the asterisk. Don’t get me wrong, this is probably the right punishment, just not for the correct crime.
